Gardens Of the World "China" Among the 315 guests were Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue, Senator and Mrs. Saxby Chambliss, Congressman and Mrs. Phil Gingrey, members from the Board of Regents and several University Officials. The Gardens of the World Ball is sponsored by the Board of Advisors and is the premier annual fund raising event for The State Botanical Garden of Georgia. BNY Mellon Wealth Management returned for the third year as presenting sponsor. Other corporate sponsors can be seen below. Arriving guests entered through a massive Chinese gate and enjoyed cocktails and Chinese appetizers on the Visitor Center plaza where a cello quartet of Chinese musicians performed. Guests had the opportunity to examine and bid on silent auction items ranging from original art to jewelry to vacation homes. Later in the evening, a traditional Chinese Lion Dance signaled the start of the dinner hour. Guests entered the conservatory through another beautifully decorated Chinese gate to find large Chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Elaborate sets, backdrops and fabrics further enhanced the Chinese theme which continued into an adjoining tent. Exquisite floral centerpieces graced each dining table. UGA Music Professor Frederick Burchinal performed during dinner followed immediately by a live auction which featured eight exceptional travel and entertainment packages.
