Celebrating Our Native Flora and Fauna Book Signings and Lectures Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn about Georgia’s flora and fauna from area authors. Each of these authors will speak about their subject and be available to sign their recently published UGA Press books. Dragonflies and Damselflies of Georgia and the Southeast

Independance Day Closing In observance of Independance Day, The State botanical Garden will be closed on July 4, 2007. This closing includes The Visitor Center and Conservatory, Cafe Trumps, The Garden Gift Shop, and all exterior display Gardens. We will reopen at 8 am on Thursday, July 5, 2007 to normal operating hours

Certificate in Native Plants. The State botanical Garden of Georgia in cooperation with the Georgia Plant Conservation Alliance will begin offering a certificate program in native plants beginning in the Fall of 2007. This program will offer a comprehensive series of short couses in identifiation, cultivation, propagation, ecology and conservation of native Georgia plants. This program is appropriate for home gardeners and, enthusiasts, as well as green industry professionals, conservationists, and professionals in the land, resource, and park management fields.

This July, you will be able to see birds in the Conservatory as well as outside. "Birds of Georgia" by Richard Parks is this months art exihibition. Richard has scientifically accurate paintings that still retain an amazingly life-like feel. Richard is a member of the American Ornithological Society, the Georgia Ornithological Society, the Georgia Conservancy, and the Atlanta and National Audubon Societies. Come join us for his opening reception on Sunday, July 8, 2007 from 1:30 pm till 3:30 pm and enjoy the works by one of Georgia's Foremost bird artists.

The second Concert of this year's Sunflower Concert Series is July 17, 2007. Our second concert features Don Chambers with Kimberly Morgan. Don and GOAT are winners of the 2005 Flagpole Music award for Best Country/ Americana/ Roots Rock. The concert is scheduled for the International Garden Lawn, but will be held in Conservatory in the event of inclement weather, from 7 pm till 9 pm.
