  The aim of this monograph is to introduce euglenoid flagellates on micrographs to as wide an audience as possible.This work provides the first coloured atlas of euglenophyte species from Central Europe, collected mainly in Slovakia and Poland. These wonderful motile solitary organisms are worldwide, occurring in diverse habitats associated with small water bodies,both fresh and marine,but also in soils and sometimes as parasites. Dichotomous keys have been prepared for determination of genera and infrageneric taxa.The brief terminological dictionary will aid in understanding of the features of each genus.The 15 genera with 158 taxa are presented in 417 coloured and SEM micrographs. The atlas will prove useful in schools, universities and those laboratories dealing with drinking, surface or waste waters, as well as to specialists in phycology and protozoology.
