Professor to discuss “Empowered Girls”

Nancy Lesko of Columbia University will give a lecture on “The Promises of Empowered Girls” March 5 at 3 p.m. in the M. Smith Griffith Auditorium at the Georgia Museum of Art. Lesko’s talk looks at “girl power” and its circulation in many international NGOs and programs. Lesko’s “history of the present” has been an important contribution to the critical understanding of contemporary social policy and research about adolescence, gender and sexuality.

UGA Symphony to perform in Hodgson Hall
The UGA Symphony Orchestra will perform March 4 at 8 p.m. in Hodgson Concert Hall at the Performing Arts Center. Under the direction of Mark Cedel, the orchestra will offer a performance of classic orchestral literature. Tickets are $10, or $5 with a UGA student ID.
