Part of the Honors
Program at the University of Georgia, the Center for Undergraduate
Research Opportunities (CURO) seeks to promote opportunities
for undergraduates to engage in research with premier research
faculty.

Apprentice Program (CURO-AP)
The CURO Apprentice Program (CURO-AP) creates research partnerships
between students (freshman and sophomores) and faculty research
mentors.

Research Initiative
The Undergraduate Research Initiative in the College of Agricultural
and Environmental Sciences is a program which allows undergraduates
to work directly with a faculty member in his or her laboratory
or field-based research program.

Archaeological Field Research
The Department of Anthropology offers scholarships to the
Archaeological Field School and funding for individual undergraduate
archaeological field research projects through the Brian Daniel
Gumbert Memorial Fund.
Summer Undergraduate
Research Program
The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) offers outstanding
undergraduates from groups historically underrepresented in
mathematics, and physical or natural sciences the chance to
work closely with faculty in an intensive summer research
experience.
Summer Undergraduate Fellowships in Genetics (SUNFIG)
Research in the areas of regulation of gene expression, recombinant
DNA technology, genetic recombination, developmental genetics,
DNA repair, RNA decay, plant molecular genetics, bacterial
and viral genetics, molecular evolution, and population genetics
is available within the Department of Genetics.
VIGRE
Undergraduate Summer Research Experiences
VIGRE (Vertical Integration of Research and Education in the
Mathematical Sciences) undergraduate summer research experiences
are designed for students from UGA and other schools who want
to do creative work in mathematics. This program allows students
to work in a collaborative environment doing mathematical
research under the direction of faculty members.
Summer Undergraduate
Research Opportunities in Chemistry
Participants will be introduced to new and innovative
areas of research in a variety of chemistry sub-disciplines
through interaction with several faculty members and joint
seminars with other participants in the summer research program.
Undergraduate students who are completing their sophomore
or junior years are encouraged to apply.
