National Day Of
Silence What is Day of Silence? 364 days out of the year we scream and shout to get people to notice that gay rights is an issue that needs to be talked about and fought for, no matter what our sexual orientation is. On April 5th, we try something different and not say a word. By being silence for 9 hours, we show the impact of what it would be like to not have our GLBT friends and those that fight for gay rights as well. How it went Since this is my first year doing this, I was a bit nervous and quite stressed out. Everything went off great. We had people come over to the table and show us they were silence. One boy even came over wearing a homemade sign bearing the word "Silenced" The Red and Black not only wrote a beautiful article on the event, but we were mentioned on the Opinions page. And NewSource 15 did a nice little feel-good story, that got cut -- but it was a good story.
