Georgia swimmer Maddie Locus has been chosen as the 2014-15 Southeastern Conference H. Boyd McWhorter Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and will receive the award next week during the SEC spring meeting in Destin, Florida.

Art venues celebrate ‘Third Thursday’
Seven Athens established venues for visual art, including the Georgia Museum of Art, will hold “Third Thursday” May 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is devoted to art in the evening hours, on the third Thursday of every month. A free shuttle service, courtesy of the Classic Center, runs every 30 minutes.
Legion Pool is open for the summer
Legion Pool is now open for the summer season. Hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through July 31 and 3-7 p.m. Aug. 1-13. Admission is $3 for students, $4 for faculty and staff, $3 for children ages 3-15 (who must be accompanied by an adult) and $5 for guests and members of Friends of Campus Life.
University to close for Memorial Day
No classes will be held and university offices will be closed May 25 in honor of Memorial Day. All operations will resume as normal May 26.
