Allyson Barnes participated in the Honors Interdisciplinary Studies program with a focus on agricultural economics and political science. She served as an intern in Congressman Sanford Bishop’s office in Washington D.C. during the summer of 2005, where she attended congressional briefing and hearings regarding agricultural issues. Allyson is a born leader, active in numerous campus leadership activities. She has served as president and vice-president of the Ag Hill Council and as their liaison with the Student Government Association (SGA). She has facilitated communication of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) clubs among each other and with the administration. She re-wrote the Ag Hill Council’s Constitution and By-Laws and distributed funds to clubs based upon their participation in the council and the college.

Allison Brazell, a fourth year Agribusiness major with a minor in Horticulture, is from Kingsland, Georgia. Allison attended Coastal Georgia Community College for two years. She is currently an FFA reporter and a member of the Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club. Allison joined the department as a work-study student in the fall of 2005. Her duties vary on a daily basis, since she is assigned to support the central office staff. She has become a valued addition to the staff, always carrying out her duties with excellence and a great attitude. She spent the summer of 2006 as an intern at Pike’s Nursery.

Chris Chammoun is a second year Agricultural Economics major from Adel, Georgia. He was recently named a Presidential Scholar and is the recipient of the Roy E. Proctor Memorial Scholarship. He is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Agricultural Fraternity and was appointed as House Manager for 2005. As a member of the UGA Agronomy Club, Chris was their representative for the Ag Hill Council for one year. Additionally, he is a member of UGA Collegiate FFA, Alpha Zeta, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society.

David Crockett is an Agribusiness major from Tifton, Georgia. He has recently been named a Presidential Scholar and is a member of the Alpha Zeta Honor Fraternity and the Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club. Before attending UGA, David earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), where he was on the Dean’s List and the Academic Achievements List, and he was a member of the Alpha Beta Gamma Business Society. During the time he was a student at ABAC, David also worked for the John Deere Corporation. In the fall of 2006, David plans to begin work on his M.S. in Agricultural Economics.

Stephen Kuzniak, a fourth year Agribusiness major from Dalton, Georgia, is enjoying an active and productive college career. He is a Presidential Scholar, on the Dean’s List, recipient of the AGR Don Ray Newton Award and Scholarship, Scholarship Officer of Alpha Gamma Rho and a member of the Alpha Zeta Honorary Fraternity, Collegiate 4-H Club, Georgia Counselors Alumni Association, and the Poultry Science Club. Additionally, he served as vice-president for Agribusiness of the Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club and is currently serving as the club’s president. After obtaining his B.S., Stephen plans to attend graduate school and then operate a business of his own.

Luke Lanier is a third year Agricultural Economics major from Swainsboro, Georgia. He is on the Dean’s List, a Presidential Scholar, Vice-President in Charge of Membership Development for Alpha Gamma Rho, a member of the Inter-Fraternity Council and a CAES Senator for the Student Government Association. Luke works as an intern for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). After college graduation, he is hoping to obtain employment with the USDA.

Susannah Martin, a third year Agribusiness major from Brooklet, Georgia, worked as a intern with Bayer CropScience as a Temik monitor. Temik is a pesticide that is applied to many agricultural crops. Susannah views internships in the second or third year of college as very important. The experience gives students “exposure to the world outside of the classroom.” Susannah has been able to apply some of what she learned in class to real business. The experience has helped her decide what she wants from a career and the kind of work environment she wants after college. She plans to pursue agricultural sales or work with an agricultural commodity group.

Rachael McCall, a second year Agricultural Economics major from Rochelle, Georgia, completed her year of service as a National FFA Southern Region Vice President from 2004-2005. Her vast array of duties in this position required Rachael to take a year off from her classes at UGA. As a national officer, she traveled over 120,000 miles, visited 35 states, Japan and Mexico. Among numerous other duties, she developed and conducted over 100 workshops focusing on leadership, personal growth, and career success. Rachael was recently elected vice-president of the Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club. She is a member of Collegiate FFA and the Wesley Foundation, and she is an Alumni Council Board Representative. She was a CAES Feature Student, Georgia Department of Education Merit recipient, and Valedictorian and STAR Student of her high school class. She is currently a local high school mentor.

Sarah Meier, an Agribusiness major from Pickerington, Ohio, is a member of the UGA women’s varsity equestrian team. The team has won the national championship two times and Southern Equestrian Championship (SEC) three times, with Sarah posting the highest score (89.5) in the April 9, 2006 event. For two years, she was selected as Most Valuable Player (MVP). In addition to her equestrian activities, Sarah was active in 4-H for eight years, and at various times, she served as treasurer, vice-president and president of her club.
