The J.W. Fanning Lecture and Awards Ceremony recognized accomplishments of prominent agricultural economists at the luncheon on January 14, 2005. J. W. Fanning Distinguished Professional Awards were presented to Tassos Haniotis, Head of Unit, Agricultural Trade Policy Analysis, Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission and to Gary W. Black, president of the Georgia Agribusiness Council, Inc. The J. W. Fanning Distinguished Young Professional Award was presented to Marie Truesdell, Chair of the Department of Business at Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana.
