Agricultural and Applied Economics faculty are part of a team formed to prepare assessment reports on the impact of Hurricane Katrina on crops, livestock and poultry in Mississippi. The team was formed in response to the Mississippi Department of Agriculture’s request for help from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Departmental faculty involved in the project are Curt Lacy, Don Shurley, and Bill Thomas. The group left for Mississippi on Monday, September 12, 2005 with plans to return in seven to ten days. Due to the storm’s devastation, they will be required to live in camp-like conditions while in Mississippi. Rob Carr/Associated Press
