John McKissick: Helping Georgia Grow

Agricultural Economist John McKissick is featured in Prism Magazine. He has devoted almost three decades to improving the agricultural industry in Georgia. John is the coordinator of the Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development and the coordinator for the Extension Agricultural Economics program. He oversees the development and implementation of economic development and marketing programs for Georgia's farmers and agribusinesses and researches new methods of increasing their profitability. His research and extension program often involves collaboration with other academic and research departments at the university. He and his staff have been able to anticipate trends and problems before they materialize, enabling them to have material that is ready when needed. John has twice been recognized by the American Agricultural Economics Association for outstanding extension programs.
