Several students participated in this department's 2003 study abroad program in Mexico. Students came from different majors including Horticulture, Food Sciences, Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics. This photo features, from left to right, the tour guide Aden, Geoffrey Bulpitt, Nicholas Dale, Jeff Beacham, Travis Moore, Nancy Mann, Kara Kirchoff, Rachel Smith, Dr. Jack Houston, and Miguel, the trip coordinator. Students here are shown in La Mancha, an ecological experiment station along the Gulf of Mexico. The station consists of many sand dunes that have evolved into forests. These forests are home to many rare plant and bird species. During the trip the students had the opportunity to visit different sites which gave them a broad perspective of Mexican agriculture production, business and marketing. The visits were complemented with the lectures from academic and non-academic personalities. Also, they had the unique opportunity to live with Mexican families and have a close look at the Mexican way of living.
