-The Graduate Student Association has a weekly Marketplace Listserv that generally has numerous apartments for rent. To sign up click here.
-Athens Banner Herald – The Athens Banner Herald is the largest local newspaper in Athens.
-The Red and Black – The unofficial school newspaper for UGA. Contains useful information about campus, Athens, and classified ads including apartment listings.

MyID Registration:
-Once accepted, you can register for your MyID. This ID will be used for things like your @uga.edu email account and WebCT, the online classroom. To register click on the following link and then click the Request a MyID link on the left part of the screen: UGA MyID
Transportation and Parking:
-You can apply for a campus parking permit by clicking here. Parking Services is located inside the East Village Commons near the Ramsey Center (the UGA recreation center). Athens also has a series of bike lanes around the city, making riding a bike to campus a fairly simple task. There are also a great deal of apartments located within walking distance of campus.
-Additionally, check out the free bus services offered by University Transit and Athens Transit. Shuttle service from Athens to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is available from AAA Airport Express.
-Numerous helpful maps of campus are available here: UGA Maps Health Center Forms:
-In your acceptance letter, you should have received some forms from the Health Center. These must be completed and returned to the Health Center before you can register for classes. The Health Center is located near the UGA Visitor's Center, off of College Sation Rd., across the street from the Intramural Fields. Phone number, 706-542-1162. If dropping off the forms, please check their website (http://www.uhs.uga.edu/) for the most current hours. Also, the lines can be quite long at the beginning of the semester!
OASIS PIN Registration:
-OASIS is UGA's online registration and records system. To register for your PIN go to the UGA homepage and scroll to the bottom for the OASIS link, also available here (Java-enabled). Your student ID will be your Social Security number and your PIN (THE FIRST TIME YOU LOG IN ONLY) will be your birthdate in MMDDYY format. Follow the program to create a permanent PIN, update your address, view your records, etc.
Now what?
-I've made it to Athens, now what? Below is a list of other items that you might find useful.
-Vivienne Sturgill (the graduate program assistant) has put together a great checklist for students (also here in pdf).
Class Registration:
-In order to register for classes you must have your major professor sign the yellow registration form. The form can be picked up in the hallway outside Vivienne's office (room 3602 Miller Plant Sciences Bldg). Once you and your major professor have determined your class schedule and he or she has signed the form, return the form to Vivienne who will clear you to register. Once you have been cleared, you can use OASIS to register for classes. Please note that you are limited to 90 minutes of use per day on OASIS.
Student ID:
-Now that you have registered for classes, you can now get your Student ID card. This is done at the Tate Student Center located across from the football stadium. Click on the following link for more information: UGA Student ID Card
-The line for this can also be extraodinarily long at the beginning of the semester and hours of operation are limited! Try to get there sometime before classes start.
-A few days before classes start, the Graduate School will hold an orientation for new graduate students. Please attend, as all sorts of helpful information will be discussed.
-If you have any questions please contact your major professor, the graduate coordinator, or Vivienne Sturgill.
-Once again, congratulations and we look forward to meeting you!
