Dr. Maynard J. Iverson
Professor
Current Activities:
Dr. Iverson serves as Coordinator of the Agricultural
Education program and teaches graduate and undergraduate
courses for the program, including the following:

EAGR 4000/6000 Special Problems in Agricultural Education
EAGR 4360/6360 Methods of Instruction in Agricultural
Education
EAGR 5460 Student Teaching/Apprentice Teaching in Agricultural

EAGR 7450 Internship in Agricultural Industry
EAGR 7050 Problems in Teaching Agriculture
Dr. Iverson advises BSA, Masters, Specialist and
Ed.D students; he teaches the supervising teacher
preparation course, and has taught three classes by
distance learning technology and assisted with two
others. Dr. Iverson also serves as Advisor for the
UGA Collegiate FFA and Alpha Tau Alpha Honorary Agricultural
Education Fraternity and is Senior Advisor for the
UGA Alpha Zeta chapter.
Research Focus:
Dr. Iverson has published research in the areas of young
farmer education, futures studies in agricultural curriculum
specialties, and programmatic concerns in Agricultural
Education.
Career Highlights:
Dr. Iverson came to the University of Georgia in 1985
to head the Agricultural Education Department. Prior
to service in Georgia he taught at North Carolina
State University (industry training), Auburn University
(research and agricultural education), University
of Kentucky (adult agricultural education) and eight
years as a teacher of vocational agriculture in North
Dakota. He has served on the National Council for
Agricultural Education, as past president of the American
Association for Agricultural Education (he was president-elect
and newsletter editor of AAAE in 1996); in 1997 he
served as national president of this professional
organization of teacher educators and other college
professors associated with Agricultural Education
programs in over 100 institutions of higher education
nationwide. He served as AAAE Representative on the
National Young Farmer Educational Association Board
of Directors from 1989 to 1997. He received the AAAE
Outstanding Member Award for the Southern Region in
1997. Dr. Iverson has consulted in Brazil, Japan,
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, in Maryland
and with the Educational Testing Service in Atlanta.
He is a member of numerous educational, honorary and
professional organizations, and served as a member
of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Vocational
Association, Georgia Vocational Agriculture Teachers
Association, and President of the UGA Chapter of Phi
Delta Kappa education honorary society. He is currently
Area 7-F Coordinator for PDK International.
