Christine A. Langone
Professor
Current Activities:
Dr. Langone currently serves as Coordinator of the
Interdisciplinary Certificate in Leadership and Service,
an undergraduate program open to all students at UGA.
She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in
leadership.

Research Focus:
Dr. Langone has published research in the areas of
leadership development, educational innovation, organizational
development and change. A key focus within leadership
has been research and evaluation strategies to effectively
document the impact of leadership development programs
in both undergraduate and community programs.
Career Highlights:
Dr. Langone was selected as a participant in the 2003
Class of the Georgia Agri-Leaders Forum. She has also
been active in Faculty Governance at the University.
She served as Chair of the Executive Committee of
the University Council (2001-2002), Chair of the UC
Committee on Statutes, Bylaws, and Committees, Chair
of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
Executive Committee (2000-2001), member of University
Council, and the CAES Faculty Council. She was honored
to be invited to serve as Grand Marshal for Commencement,
Convocation, and Honors Day ceremonies. She currently
serves on the University Strategic Planning Committee.
At the national level, Dr. Langone served on the Board
of Directors of the Association of Leadership Educators
(1994-1997), having served as President, Vice President/President
Elect, Past President, and Chair of the Nominating and
Conference Program Planning Committees. Dr. Langone
was awarded the 1998 national Distinguished Leadership
Service Award of the Association of Leadership Educators.
She was awarded the 1996 Oakes Award by the American
Association of Adult and Continuing Educators for her
role in designing research on educational program planning.
She has held other professional roles including statewide
coordinator of the Community Leadership: A County Perspective
Program and Leadership Development Specialist with the
Georgia Cooperative Extension Service, statewide coordinator
of a curriculum development project for the Georgia
State Department of Education, teaching high school
vocational education, and working as county Extension
Agent in Thomas County, Georgia. Dr. Langone has been
involved in extensive curriculum development projects
particularly designing new programs. A recent project
involved researching the effects of distance education
efforts of the Centers for Disease Control National
Immunization Program.
