Maria Navarro
Part-Time Instructor
Current Activities:
Maria Navarro is an Instructor in the Department.
She is involved with the
undergraduate and graduate programs in international agriculture and
agricultural leadership, and is working in various projects dealing with the
revitalization and internationalization of the agricultural curriculum.
Currently, she teaches the
following courses:
ALDR (AFST) 5700/7700
International
Agricultural Development;
AESC 3150 Topics in International Agriculture;
AESC 4960 Undergraduate Research in Agricultural and Environmental
Sciences.
Research Focus:
International cooperation and agricultural development: Education, communication,
and extension issues affecting agricultural and human development in different
areas of the world;
Curriculum in higher education: Specifically, research studying the
factors affecting the revitalization and internationalization of the
agricultural curriculum.
Career highlights:
1999-present: Instructor, Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education,
and Communication, University of Georgia;
1997-1999: Teaching and Research Assistant, Texas A&M University;
1991-1997: Coordinator, Plant Production Area, International Centre for Advanced
Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM - IAMZ). The Center focuses on international
agricultural education, development, research, and networking activities.
