Dr. John C. Ricketts
Assistant Professor
Current Activities:
Dr. Ricketts is involved in the teaching and advising
of undergraduates and graduate students in agricultural
leadership, education and communication. He advises
the UGA Collegiate FFA and Alpha Tau Alpha Honorary
Agricultural Education Fraternity. Currently, he teaches
the following courses:
EAGR 4340/6340 Developing Community Programs in Agriculture
EAGR 4350/6350 Curriculum Planning in Agriculture
Education
EAGR 7460 Internship in Agricultural Education
Research Focus:
Dr. Ricketts has published in the areas of youth leadership
development and critical thinking of agriscience students
and teachers.
Career Highlights:
Dr. Ricketts started working for the University of
Georgia in July 2003. Before coming to Georgia, Dr.
Ricketts worked as an instructor and researcher at
the University of Florida while completing his PhD.
Prior to that, Dr. Ricketts was a high school agriscience
teacher in Tennessee for over four years. His scholarly
achievements already include 6 refereed journal publications,
52 refereed invited or refereed presentations, 4 articles
in teaching publications, 1 leadership textbook and
4 curriculum projects. Dr. Ricketts has also served
on committees for the improvement of teaching at national
and international levels. He is a member of the National
Association of Agricultural Education, the American
Association for Agricultural Education, the north
American Association of Colleges and Teachers in Agriculture,
the Association of Leadership Educators and the International
Leadership Association
