Museum to show Chaplin film


The Georgia Museum of Art will show the Charlie Chaplin film “Modern Times” July 31 at 7 p.m. as part of its Picturing America Film Series. The 1936 film is Chaplin’s last outing as the Little Tramp in which he puts the iconic character to work as a giddily inept factory employee who becomes smitten with a gorgeous gamine.

Legion Pool offers cool recreation


UGA’s Legion Pool is open for students, employees and their guests. Pool hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $3 to $5, with season passes available.


Alumnus to speak at summer Commencement
Francis "Abit" Massey, a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia and president emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation, will give the summer Commencement address at UGA's combined undergraduate and graduate ceremony Aug. 1 at 9:30 a.m. in Stegeman Coliseum. Tickets are not required. Doors open at 8 a.m.
