During last year, she was the Vice President of the Student Government Association, and in this role she led the statewide student campaign against budget cuts to the University System of Georgia. Fernando J. Torres-Vélez came to the College of Veterinary Medicine in the summer of 2002 as an anatomic pathology resident after completing a fellowship in Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. He was there during the London bombings, and he helped cover stories about Russell Square and King’s Cross where two of the first bombs were detonated.
