A research team led by Ralph A. Tripp of the College of Veterinary Medicine will receive $1,327,570 through the Grand Challenges Explorations initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Tripp’s team is working on a global health research project on “Improved Vaccine Production Technology for Rotavirus Vaccines.”

Open forum to focus on UGA IDs
Enterprise Information Technology Services will host an open forum Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the Tate Student Center Theatre about a project to convert Social Security numbers to UGA IDs in the university’s central financial, human resources, payroll and administrative systems. The forum will focus on why this project is important to improve information security, what to expect during the maintenance and steps after the migration.
Men’s basketball team to host Lipscomb
The men’s basketball team will play Lipscomb University Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum. Tickets are $5 to $15.
GMOA to screen "Russian Ark"
The Georgia Museum of Art will show the film "Russian Ark" Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in the M. Smith Griffith Auditorium at the museum. The film, a surreal journey through the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, is being shown in conjunction with the exhibition "Exuberance of Meaning: The Art Patronage of Catherine the Great (1762-1796)," on view at the museum through Jan. 5.
