highlights, achievements and awards:
I transferred
to UGA from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. After I
completed my associate's degree there, I came to UGA to finish
my bachelor's degree. I will be in the first class to graduate
from the Tifton campus. While at UGA, I was chosen to work
as an summer agricultural intern in the Washington, D.C. office
of U.S. Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. who represents
the second district of Georgia. I also represented the College
of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) Tifton campus
at the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Convention in Athens
last year. Additionally, I recently had the honor of attending
the CAES dinner in Atlanta for city and county politicians
from around the state of Georgia.
High School: Colquitt County High School
Hometown: Moultrie, Georgia
I choose to attend UGA because...
...the UGA Tifton campus provides students from all over Georgia
the opportunity to experience an education in agriculture
from professors and staff who have hands-on expertise. Since
the professors here are the ones who provide the educational
resources to extension agents and they conduct field research,
they have practical expeience with the real problems facing
Georgia agriculture. They are equipped to prepare us for those
issues.
My favorite things to do on campus are...
The Tifton Campus community maintains close relationships
within the student body. This is the only school that I've
been to that celebrates the stepping stones of individual
students by involving not only the students, but also the
faculty and staff. Our class has celebrated wedding showers,
individual student accomplishments, and staff accomplishments.
Being involved in the entire school is my favorite thing to
do.
My favorite place to study is...
...the student center in Tifton. It offers a place that the
students all have access to, night or day, and we can study
as a group for difficult tests.
My favorite professor is...
I can't say that I have one favorite professor. The entire
teaching staff at school goes out of their way to make sure
that all students get a thorough understanding of the topics
we cover.
If money was not a consideration, I would love to...
...buy my parents anything they wanted to repay them for the
patience they given me since I've been in school. I would
also want to repay my past schools for my education starting
with my high school, then ABAC, and then UGA. Most of all,
I want to give back to my community because the community
made me the person I am today.
After graduation, I plan to...
...work in the agribusiness community in the chemical, seed
or fertilizer industry.
The one UGA experience I will always remember will
be...
...my internship with Congressman Bishop. It has been the
ultimate learning experience. |
