The Marine Education Center & Aquarium has been providing
interactive distance learning programs to schools across
the country since 1994, and has pioneered the use of multimedia
and mobile videoconference equipment in delivering our programs.
Our distance learning
programs are available to educational institutions that have
IP based video conference systems.
Many of our programs are taught from our multimedia enhanced
videoconferencing studio. We also have the capability to
take your class on interactive tank-by-tank tours of our
public aquaria, conduct behind the scenes programs, visit
our invertebrate "touch tanks," and collect water
samples and organisms right from the edge of the Skidaway
River using our mobile video system (pictured at right).
Our program offerings reflect MECA's focus on ecosystems,
coastal flora and fauna, water quality issues, and the physical
character of the coastal and marine environments. Programs
are presented by our teaching and marine advisory faculty,
educators from NOAA's Grays Reef National Marine Sanctuary
office, and scientists from the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography.
To view our available programs, click on "Program descriptions" (above right). To Schedule a program please direct inquiries to our Scheduling
Coordinator via email, or by calling (912) 598-2335. All programs are fifty-minutes long and are available at a cost of $80 per sesion.
