Deanna
Frankowski
Deanna
grew up in Brownsville, Wisconsin and recently graduated from
Ripon College, in Ripon, WI with a degree in Biology and a
minor in Spanish. While at Ripon, Deanna participated in a
summer REU program with the NOAA affiliated Great Lakes Environmental
Research Laboratory as an aquatic ecologist examining invasive
species of the Great Lakes as well as participating in field
sampling on Lake Erie. She also spent a semester abroad in
Costa Rica where she completed an independent research project
working alongside local sea turtle conservationists to help
track sea turtle nesting and deter poachers from taking eggs.
Deanna is excited to join the MECA team and is looking forward
to all the great experiences this opportunity will bring!

Andy
Gould..
Andy
grew up in Oxford, North Carolina, and recently graduated
from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington, with
a BS in Environmental Studies, focusing in Biology. He spent
over a year as a weekend educator at the North Carolina Aquarium
at Fort Fisher, where he developed an interest in environemtnal
education. He also spent several hours a week working on
a research project with UNCW, looking into diffrent ways
of protecting loggerhead sea turtle nests from predation
on Masonboro Island. He has followed his interest in enviromental
education to MECA, and is excited about learning more about
the field of marine education.

Caitlin
Bell
Caitlin
is a Buffalo, NY native and recently graduated with a degree
in Natural Resources and a concentration in Applied Ecology from
Cornell University. There, she completed her honors
thesis on the human dimensions of natural resource management
and conservation by evaluating the Massachussetts Audubon Society's
Coastal Waterbird Program. She has worked extensively
with children as a Tae kwon-Do instructor aide, a swim instructor,
a zookeeper, and a park ranger, and loves inspiring people
to conserve the environment. Caitlin is excited to finally
be involved with marine biology, which has been a life-long
passion, but is tough to study in central New York! Caitlin
hopes to use her experience with MECA to direct her search
for a topic to pursue in graduate school and beyond, and is
looking forward to her first winter without snow! |
Mandy
Wrobel..
Mandy
grew up in the town of Clifton Park New York, near the city of
Albany in Saratoga Springs. She attended the University of New
Hampshire in Durham, NH. While there, earned a B.S. with a degree
in Marine and Freshwater Biology. During her college career she
also studied abroad at James Cook University in Townsville Australia,
located on the Great Barrier Reef, and also spent time during
a summer at the Isles of Shoals Marine Lab in the Gulf of Maine
studying animal ecology and behavior. Mandy has many years of
experience working with children from being a summer camp counselor
to working in a daycare facility. She is thrilled to travel to
new places and am estatic to be in Savannah Georgia. This oppurtunity
allows her to work with children, enjoy a new city, and further
her studies in Marine Biology.
