Deanna Frankowski

Deanna grew up in Brownsville, Wisconsin and recently graduated from Ripon College, in Ripon, WI with a degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish. While at Ripon, Deanna participated in a summer REU program with the NOAA affiliated Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory as an aquatic ecologist examining invasive species of the Great Lakes as well as participating in field sampling on Lake Erie. She also spent a semester abroad in Costa Rica where she completed an independent research project working alongside local sea turtle conservationists to help track sea turtle nesting and deter poachers from taking eggs. Deanna is excited to join the MECA team and is looking forward to all the great experiences this opportunity will bring!

Andy grew up in Oxford, North Carolina, and recently graduated from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington, with a BS in Environmental Studies, focusing in Biology. He spent over a year as a weekend educator at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, where he developed an interest in environemtnal education. He also spent several hours a week working on a research project with UNCW, looking into diffrent ways of protecting loggerhead sea turtle nests from predation on Masonboro Island. He has followed his interest in enviromental education to MECA, and is excited about learning more about the field of marine education.

Caitlin Bell

Caitlin is a Buffalo, NY native and recently graduated with a degree in Natural Resources and a concentration in Applied Ecology from Cornell University.  There, she completed her honors thesis on the human dimensions of natural resource management and conservation by evaluating the Massachussetts Audubon Society's Coastal Waterbird Program.  She has worked extensively with children as a Tae kwon-Do instructor aide, a swim instructor, a zookeeper, and a park ranger, and loves inspiring people to conserve the environment.  Caitlin is excited to finally be involved with marine biology, which has been a life-long passion, but is tough to study in central New York!  Caitlin hopes to use her experience with MECA to direct her search for a topic to pursue in graduate school and beyond, and is looking forward to her first winter without snow!
