From the Dean

Attracting and Supporting the Best Students
Goal: $75 million

To attract bright, determined and talented students, we must offer significant scholarship and fellowship funds throughout the University. Additionally, the resources sought for this category will provide funds for internships and service opportunities, the Honors Program, international initiatives and other academic programming.

Recruiting and Retaining Top Faculty
Goal: $100 million

Enhancing the quality of the faculty is critical to attracting and stimulating excellent students. The University seeks substantial increases in the numbers of endowed chairs, professorships, visiting scholars and related academic department support funds.

Strengthening Programs to Serve
the State and Beyond

Goal: $35 million

The University serves Georgia in every dimension of its activities, highlighted throughout six funding categories and has a tradition of service in each of the state’s 159 counties. These additional resources will complete the second phase of the Georgia Museum of Art, further enhance the State Botanical Garden, and support agribusiness and economic development.

Advancing the Quest for
Knowledge and Achieving Pre-Eminence

Goal: $100 million

Funding is needed to capitalize on the enormous potential in such areas as the environment, genomics, biomedical sciences, information technology and new media, leadership advancement and international affairs. We seek to reach the top ranks of American research universities and expand our established role in economic development.

Enriching the Campus and
Building the New Learning Environment

Goal: $70 million

Superior students and faculty require access to innovative and inspiring facilities for teaching and research. Significant funds are needed to create physical environments that support key programs and new initiatives. The University must continuously modernize classrooms, laboratories and computing facilities.

Ensuring Annual and
Long-Term Unrestricted Support

Goal: $120 million

Sufficient unrestricted funds and a strong endowment are hallmarks of a world-class institution. These funds allow a university to be opportunistic, to weather economic storms, provide flexibility for growth and invigorate programs across the missions of teaching, research and service.
