Campaign Goals

The University’s motto — “To teach, to serve, and to inquire into the nature of things” — is particularly appropriate for the Graduate School, which enables students to delve into the possibilities realized from graduate education. Whether they aspire to be tomorrow’s teachers, social workers, scientists, artists, musicians, or policy-makers, students today need funding for their endeavors, and the Graduate School needs commitments from those who will support their scholarly pursuits.

Building the New Learning Environment

  • To provide significant funding increases in graduate fellowships to compete with other top-tier institutions for the brightest scholars.
  • To supplement departmental assistantships.
  • To expand new teaching and professional development opportunities.

Maximizing Research Opportunities

  • To help students bridge the gap to perform research in areas where research funding does not exist.
  • To provide travel grants to further the research mission and enable data collection and information sharing.
  • To create funding opportunities to address new, innovative, and emerging issues with regard to solving today’s complex problems.

Competing in the Global Economy

  • To support students who wish to study and perform research abroad.
  • To assist nontraditional students who return to school to pursue advanced degrees.
  • To enable students who are researching areas that have immediate impacts on society.
