8 Minutes 27 Seconds of CORE Colors
Arts Quadrangle

Originally premiered in 1993 and performed at the 1996 Olympics venue in Athens, this piece is a collaborative choreographic venture presented by the CORE Concert Dance Company with the Hugh Hodgson School of Music Student Composers Association Improv Unit. Under the direction of the Jane Willson Professor in the Arts Bala Sarasvati, dancers create a visual art form by dancing in, through, and around paint poured onto the dance surface, resulting in three-dimensional sculptural shapes created by the dancers.

An improv performance and workshop conducted by MFA theatre student Jacqueline Carey, including a brief interactive performance followed by theatre games for five- to eight-year-old children.

The museum will provide a pamphlet for self-guided tours corresponding with exhibitions followed by children creating chalk murals on the sidewalks in the Arts Quadrangle. In the event of rain, the activity will be moved indoors.
