UGA Code of Conduct: Alcohol and Other Drug Related Misconduct
Georgia law prohibits possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages by those under the legal drinking age and prohibits making alcoholic beverages available to persons under the legal drinking age. The University of Georgia supports a program of alcohol education and expects those who choose to use alcohol to do so responsibly.
The following actions are prohibited and constitute a violation of the University of Georgia Student Code of Conduct:
- Use, possession, distribution, or sale of alcoholic beverages except as permitted by law and University policy.
- Providing or facilitating the use, possession or distribution of alcoholic beverages except as permitted by law and University policy.
- Disruptive or disorderly conduct caused by the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs.
- Use, possession, or distribution of narcotic or other controlled substances except as permitted by law.
- Providing or facilitating the use, possession, or distribution of narcotic or other controlled substances except as permitted by law.
If a student is found to be in violation of alcohol and other drug related misconduct, possible sanctions may include:
- Probation
- Community Service
- Referral to an Alcohol Education Program (OCTAA, DUI School, etc)
- Suspension from University Housing
- Suspension from the University
