Health Advocate Course

What is the course?

The purpose of this course is to develop the skills necessary to become an effective Health Advocate. Content will include information about the top health issues facing college students,   and the various roles a Health Advocate can have to help create a  healthier campus environment.   These roles include identifying an issue to examine, developing a strategic plan to deal with the issue, developing partnerships and improving written and verbal communication.  In the end, students should be able to have a better understanding of health issues facing college students and how to advocate for any issue (health related or not).

When is it offered?

ECHD 3010 is offered every fall. It is taught on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45-5:00 PM.

Who should take it?

Anyone can take it, especially if you:

  • Want education on alcohol, tobacco and drug issues
  • Want to learn how to help friends dealing with problems
  • Want to collaborate on projects with students and professionals on campus
  • Want to change the alcohol and other drug culture on campus and in the community
