Course objectives:
Students will be able to speak, comprehend, read, and write basic Korean sentences, and they will learn fundamentals in inter-personal relationships in Korean culture.
Textbook: First Step in Korean (available at Baxter Street Bookstore)
Requirements:
1. Daily & weekend homework assignments.
2. Two 30-minute computer lab sessions per week (on two different days).
3. One 1-hour (or two 30-minute) oral practice session(s) per week with a native speaker.
Grading:
1. Written quizzes: 15 points
2. Oral quizzes: 15 points
3. Midterm: 30 points (oral & written)
4. Final exam: 30 points (oral & written)
5. homework: 10 points
Final grades:
A: 100-90 B: 89-80 C: 79-70 D: 69-60 F: 59-0
Attendance Policy:
*If you cannot attend class due to sickness, please notify the instructor in advance and submit a doctor's note when you come back to class.
*If you have more than 5 unexcused absences, your final grade will be an F.
*There are no make-up quizzes except for medical reasons.
*If you turn in homework assignment one day late, you will get maximum 5 points out of 10. Homework older than two days is not accepted.
