Organizations

Athens Tutorial Program
A non-profit organization dedicated to providing academic assistance, improving learning skills, and providing personal growth and cultural enrichment opportunities to K-12 students.

Clarke County Mentor Program
A non-profit organization that pairs trained community volunteers as mentors with public school students who can benefit from a close association with a caring friend who will help them strive for excellence in their lives.

Communities In Schools
Helping children stay in school and prepare for life, this dropout prevention initiative fosters school readiness, school success, and healthy children.

Jeannette Rankin Foundation
Raises funds for and awards scholarships to women thirty-five years of age and older who are seeking to better themselves, their families, and their communities through undergraduate or vocational education.

McPhaul Child Development Lab
Provides developmentally appropriate programs on a full-day basis for both UGA and community families with children ages 8 weeks to 5 years, and half-day Head Start programs for children ages 3-5 years.

Partnership for Community Learning Centers
A collaborative effort of the University of Georgia, the Clarke County School District, and the Athens community working together to improve student learning through the creation of community learning centers designed to meet the intellectual, social, and cultural needs of all students.

Project START
A summer program for students with autism or other cognitive disabilities, providing both academic and recreational services to Clarke County youth with special needs.

Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic
Provides educational materials in recorded and computerized formats for all people who cannot effectively read standard print because of a visual, perceptual, or other physical disability.
