AWIS at UGA is the University of Georgia's chapter of the Association for Women in Science, a national organization with chapters in 42 American states dedicated to "achieving equity and full participation for women in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology." AWIS has been advocating the entrance to and advancement of women in all scientific fields insce 1971.

AWIS at UGA, like most local AWIS chapters, facilitates networking between female UGA students and professionals in all fields and disciplines, and at all levels. AWIS at UGA prides itself on its Pi in the Sky program, a community outreach program to help young girls in elementary and middle school become more aware of the exciting prospects scientific fields hold.
