The club: The
Badminton Club at the University of Georgia was found in 1985
by few badminton enthusiasts. Members are from many regions around
the world such as US, India, Bangladesh, China, Taiwan, Thailand,
Hong Kong, Germany etc. The university reserves at least six courts
for two days per week exclusively for the club. The club collects
small amount of membership fee every semester, it is however mostly
supported by the university. The university owns quite a few basic
rackets and anyone can check them out with a valid UGA card (free
of charge). Shuttlecocks can be purchased at the equipment check-out
desk and provided to the club members at no charge. As a club
member you can use the university stringing machine which is available
in the checkout office.
The club has all the levels of players ranging
from beginner to experienced. Please don't be shy to join us
even you are a beginner. The more experienced players in our club
are willing to guide you to improve your skills. Therefore everyone
is welcome to join us.

Communication: Badminton club
has its own list serve at BADMINTON_L@listserv.uga.edu. The current
club members have already been added into the list. However, everyone
is welcome to subscribe to our list serve by sending an email
to the above address (no subject) with the content of "subscribe
BADMINTON name last-name". Email addresses of subscribers
are kept confidential and we will not release then to anyone for
any reasons. Join our list now to receive news, updates and changes
regarding the practice time. You could also send email to badmin@uga.edu
for the subscription.
Badminton Club FAQ:
1. How do I join the club?
Just show up when we practice and play with us. Give us your email
address so that we can add it to our emailing list. We send updates
and changes to our member by email. There is a $5 per semester
membership fee.
2. What do I need to join the club?
If you are not a UGA student or faculty/staff, you need to pay
$5 each time you enter the Ramsey. UGA members pay this fee with
their activity fee or they have to by a pass from the Ramsey.
It is $90 per semester for unlimited access. You can check out
a badminton racket from the Ramsey and we provide shuttlecocks.
3. I am a beginner, can I join?
Certainly, we have all levels of players that you can play with.
We can also train you, if you would like. Just let the president
of the club know that you need more training and he will find
someone to train you.
4. Where do you play?
We play at the Ramsey Student Center. There are two badminton
gyms in the Ramsey. Sometimes the courts are set up in one but
not the other.
5. I need more information, who should I contact?
