'Many Faces of God' at TCC

TOWNSEND -- The Townsend Congregational Church will host an interfaith discussion entitled "The Many Faces of God" on Thursdays, March 13 and April 3. A casual potluck dinner begins at 6:30, followed by the presentation at 7:30.

Speakers from the Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu and Baha'i faiths have been invited to participate in this forum, which is designed to open hearts and minds to the tolerance of other faiths. As Prof. Hans Kung said, "Until there is peace between religions, there can be no peace in the world."

The March 13 speakers include:

Shyam Sharma, a Hindu who lives in Holden. He holds a Ph.D. from Clark University. He speaks at different churches and schools on the philosophy, religion, and culture of the Hindu, Buddhist, and Jainnsikh, as well as India's contribution to the world.

Rigel Lustwerk of the Baha'i faith. The holder of a Ph.D. in geochemistry, she is secretary of the Billerica Baha'i community and sits on the Billerica Clergy Association.

Peter George, a Jew originally from New York City who now lives Petersham with his family. He has a degree in History and Slavic Area Studies from the University of Kansas and is vice president of Temple Israel in Athol.
