Alex Hill Receives 2009 Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award
2009 UGA Blue Key treasurer Alex Hill has been recognized as one of the 2009 recipients of the Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award. This award is presented annually to a male and female student-athlete with the highest grade point average in their senior year in the UGA athletic program. Hill is a Finance major and member of the UGA Men's Tennis Team.

UGA Blue Key alumna selected as a MacArthur Fellow
UGA alumna and 1999 Rhodes Scholar Beth Shapiro, currently Shaffer Career Development assistant professor of biology at Penn State, has been named a recipient of the 2009 MacArthur Fellowship, often referred to as the "Genius Award". Shapiro is the first UGA graduate to receive this prestigious award.

Former UGA President Charles Knapp to join Institute of Higher Education

The University of Georgia chapter of Blue Key Honor Society will recognize a former Georgia governor, a legendary university professor and two of UGA’s leading supporters at the annual Blue Key Awards banquet Oct. 8. The society will present the 40th annual Blue Key Awards to Roy E. Barnes, who was governor from 1999-2003; R. Perry Sentell Jr., who taught law at UGA for 46 years; Jane Seddon Willson, president of Sunnyland Farms, Inc., in Albany; and Charles S. Sanford Jr., retired chairman and CEO of Bankers Trust Corp.

UGA Honors student awarded Marshall Scholarship
Matthew Crim, a senior Honors student from Cartersville, has been selected as a 2005 Marshall Scholar. This is the third consecutive year that a UGA student has received this prestigious award to study in the United Kingdom. A 2004 Truman Scholarship recipient, Crim is the first UGA student to win both the Truman and Marshall Scholarships.
