The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is now a participating institution with Center for Plant Conservation (CPC). The Garden joined following a site visit in January by CPC staff and Board of Trustees members. CPC is a national coalition dedicated to conserving and restoring the rare native plants of the United States. Collectively, CPC institutions maintain the National Collection of Endangered Plants, a collection of more than 500 critically threatened species. More than 200 plant species in the United States have become extinct in the last two centuries. Over 700 species are federally listed as endangered or threatened. An astonishing one in every five plant species native to the United States is now declining, threatened or nearing extinction. CPC is located at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. For additional information, visit their website at www.centerforplantconservation.org.
