UGA community will get opportunity to sign support beam for Tate Student Center expansion

Sign the BeamATHENS, Ga. – Students, faculty, and staff at the University of Georgia will have a chance to sign a support beam for the Tate Student Center expansion on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The 22-foot steel beam will be placed on the Tate Student Center Lawn for members of the University community to sign at their leisure during the day. The beam will eventually provide support for the roof of the new building and will be put in place in late May.

The $58-million Tate Student Center Expansion and Renovation project is expected to be completed in late spring 2009. The project is funded through a student activity fee increase approved by students in a 2005 referendum vote.

For more information about the Tate Student Center Expansion and Renovation, call 706-542-7774 or go to www.uga.edu/campuslife.
