Nurturing and guiding academic and exchange programs for students and faculty, the Center for Asian Studies at the University of Georgia focuses on language and multidisciplinary studies directed by scholars throughout the university and the university system in a variety of subjects including agriculture, arts, sciences, business, education, engineering, journalism, law, and veterinary medicine. Among the center's activities are:
· curriculum planning, review, and development in modern Asian languages and related area studies;
· a speakers' and visitors' program of distinguished Asianists to address and exchange ideas with students, faculty, and community on Asian topics;
· student and faculty exchange agreements with Asian Universities;
· the promotion and facilitation of collaborative research with Asian scholars and institutions;
· the development of library and related instructional research materials and facilities; and
· the attainment of external funding for Asian studies at UGA.
The Center for Asian Studies seeks to expand and improve instructional programs in Asian languages and area studies and, through exchange agreements, to promote and facilitate more involvement between UGA students and faculty and their Asian counterparts.
