Air Travel

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport The Atlanta Airport is located approximately 81 miles from Athens. Driving time can range from one and a half hours, to over two hours, depending on traffic. Most major rental car companies are available at the airport. There is also a reliable shuttle van that runs from the airport to Athens every few hours. Please note that there is no public transportation between Atlanta and Athens; therefore, reservations should be made for either shuttle service or car rental. Flights	Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is serviced by most major airlines. A number of dicsount airlines also offer service to the Atlanta Airport. .
Atlanta-Athens Airport Shuttle	AAA Airport Express: 1-800-354-7874 Cost: $35 each way Reservations: REQUIRED Schedule: 6 times daily - 7 days/week .
Car Rental	Avis, Budget, Hertz, Dollar, National, Payless and Thrifty have registration counters located inside the airport on the first floor within the atrium. Enterprise, Airport Rent-A-Car, Payless Car Rental and EZ Rent a Car are located off-site. Car rental shuttles are located on Island B at the Ground Transportation Area. .
Driving Directions	From the Atlanta Airport 1. Leaving the airport, take I-285 East. 2. Exit I-285 onto I-20 East (Augusta). 3. Exit I-20 at the Conyers/Monroe exit (Ga. Hwy 20 and Hwy. 138) 4. Turn left onto Hwy. 138 leading to Monroe. 5. Hwy. 138 ends and merges onto Hwy. 78 East at Monroe. 6. As you enter Athens on Hwy. 78, turn right (East) onto Hwy. 316. 7. Hwy. 316 ends and becomes Epps Bridge Parkway. Continue on Epps Bridge Parkway. 8. Epps Bridge Parkway ends and becomes Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street. 9. Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street leads to downtown Athens.

Athens Ben-Epps Airport The Athens Airport is located approximately five miles from downtown Athens and is serviced by USAir. It can be a wonderful alternative to flying into Atlanta and driving through traffic. Flights may be slightly more expensive, but are comparable when rental car savings are factored in. .
Flights	Direct airline service to Athens is provided by US Air Express from Charlotte, North Carolina. Several flights a day are available. For schedule and fare information call 1-800-428-4322 or visit www.athensairport.net/.

Driving Directions	From the Athens Airport 1. Exit the Airport and turn left on Winterville Road 2. Turn right on Lexington Road (Highway 78) and follow it directly into downtown - approximately 3 miles.
