Driving Directions

Directions from the Northeast via I-85 South
1. Take I-85 South to the Commerce/Hwy. 441 exit.
2. Take Hwy. 441 South to Athens.
3. As you enter Athens, Hwy. 441 becomes M. L. King Jr. Pkwy after you go under the by-pass. Continue straight on M.L. King, Jr. Pkwy.
Do not take 441 South via the by-pass.
4. At the first light turn right onto College Avenue, which runs through the heart of downtown Athens.

 
Directions from the Southeast via I-20 West
1. Take I-20 West to the Thomson/Washington exit, Hwy. 78. Turn right onto Hwy. 78.
2. Take Hwy. 78 to Athens where Hwy. 78 business leads straight to downtown Athens.
3. As you approach the downtown area, stay in the left hand lane. Hwy. 78 Business merges onto Broad Street in the downtown area.

 
From the South via I-75 North
1. Coming in on I-75 North, exit onto I-285 East (Augusta/Greenville, S.C.)
2. Exit I-285 onto I-20 East (Augusta).
3. Exit I-20 at the Conyers/Monroe exit (Ga. Hwy 20 and Hwy. 138)
4. Turn left onto Hwy. 138 leading to Monroe.
5. Hwy. 138 ends and merges onto Hwy. 78 East at Monroe.
6. As you enter Athens on Hwy. 78, turn right (East) onto Hwy. 316. Hwy. 316 ends and becomes Epps Bridge Parkway. Continue on Epps Bridge Parkway.
7. Epps Bridge Parkway ends and becomes Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street.
8. Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street leads to downtown Athens.

If you are coming in on I-75 North and wish to by-pass
Atlanta completely and come in on the "back roads," follow these directions:
1. Exit I-75 at the Forsyth exit (Ga. Hwy. 83).
2. Turn right on Hwy. 83 towards Monticello.
3. Continue on Hwy. 83 through Monticello towards Madison.
4. In Madison, pick up Hwy. 441 North to Athens.
5. As you enter Athens, 441 continues north via the by-pass at the point of intersection with S. Milledge Avenue.
6. Turn left onto S. Milledge Avenue.
7. Turn right onto Broad Street, which leads you into downtown Athens.
 
From the North via I-75 South
1. Coming in on I-75 South, exit onto I-285 East/South (Greenville, S.C./Macon).
2. Exit I-285 onto I-85 North (Greenville).
3. Exit I-85 onto GA Hwy. 316 to Athens.
4. Hwy. 316 ends and becomes Epps Bridge Parkway. Continue on Epps Bridge Parkway.
5. Epps Bridge Parkway ends and becomes Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street.
6. Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street leads to downtown Athens.
 
From the Southwest via I-85 North
1. Coming in on I-85 North, exit onto I-285 East (Macon/Greenville, S.C.).
2. Exit I-285 onto I-20 East (Augusta).
3. Exit I-20 at the Conyers/Monroe exit (Ga. Hwy 20 and Hwy. 138)
4. Turn left onto Hwy. 138 leading to Monroe.
5. Hwy. 138 ends and merges onto Hwy. 78 East at Monroe.
6. As you enter Athens on Hwy. 78, turn right (East) onto Hwy. 316.
7. Hwy. 316 ends and becomes Epps Bridge Parkway. Continue on Epps Bridge Parkway.
8. Epps Bridge Parkway ends and becomes Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street.
9. Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street leads to downtown Athens.
 
From the Atlanta Airport
1. Leaving the airport, take I-285 East.
2. Exit I-285 onto I-20 East (Augusta).
3. Exit I-20 at the Conyers/Monroe exit (Ga. Hwy 20 and Hwy. 138)
4. Turn left onto Hwy. 138 leading to Monroe.
5. Hwy. 138 ends and merges onto Hwy. 78 East at Monroe.
6. As you enter Athens on Hwy. 78, turn right (East) onto Hwy. 316.
7. Hwy. 316 ends and becomes Epps Bridge Parkway. Continue on Epps Bridge Parkway.
8. Epps Bridge Parkway ends and becomes Atlanta Hwy./Broad Street.
