University of Georgia

The University of Georgia, founded in 1785, is the nation's oldest state-chartered university. Since its establishment, UGA has grown in leaps and bounds. Currently, it boasts a student body of over 32,000 people from around the globe. The university is comprised of fourteen schools and colleges and offers degrees in over 160 majors and fields of study. In offering a world-class education, UGA strives to uphold the three principles manifested in the pillars of the historic Arch: Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation.

While on campus, be sure to visit the historic North Campus, home to many beautiful of 19th century buildings, including Old College (1806), the oldest building in Athens, the Greek-Revival Chapel (1832), and the Federal-style Demosthenian Hall (1824). Walk through the famous arch (c.1850) from Broad Street, and enjoy rolling lawns and magnificent magnolias.

The UGA Visitor's Center conducts daily tours of the campus. All tours leave from the Four Towers Building. Tours are conducted Monday through Friday at 9:15 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday tours are at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The only tour on Sunday is at 2:30 p.m. The Visitors Center is closed on official University holidays. To make a tour reservation, call (706) 542-0842.
