The University of Georgia Athletic Association
Cheerleading General Information
-
Unlike some schools that have both a Varsity and a JV squad, the UGA cheerleading
program consists of one Varsity squad of twelve couples.
-
Scholarships are given to all members of The University of Georgia cheerleading
squad that adhere to the “performance and standards contract” every cheerleader
is required to sign.
-
In order to try out, all high school seniors must provide a copy of their
UGA letter of acceptance, their medical insurance policy number, and proof
of a recent (within the last 12 months) physical from a physician.
-
All other students, including transfer students, must be enrolled at UGA
at the time of tryouts and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
-
Graduate students are not eligible to tryout unless they have been a member
of the UGA squad as an undergraduate and have eligibility available.
-
One is eligible to cheer on the UGA cheerleading squad for a total of three
years. Transfer students who cheered collegiately at another school
must count those years in their eligibility total.
-
Tryouts will be held in the spring over a weekend. The Hairy Dawg
mascot and Mic Man will also be selected at this time
