THE UGA CHEERLEADING EXPERIENCE

The place to be this fall on Saturday afternoons is Athens, Georgia.  There, “between the hedges”, you will find the Georgia cheerleaders cheering on the Dawgs in front of 85,000+ screaming fans!  We want you to join us.

A long tradition of excellence defines the UGA Cheerleading program.  Supported by one of the strongest athletic associations in the nation, dedicated to cheering the Dawgs to victory, these athletes work extremely hard on and off the field.  Cheering for football and basketball at The University of Georgia is both mentally and physically demanding.  Our program outlines strict rules for academic and athletic excellence to which all participants must adhere.  The cheerleaders training regime consists of weight training, aerobic conditioning, and scheduled cheer practices.  Our program inspires young men and women who pride themselves as exemplary student-athletes on and off the field.

Demanding the best from her squad, Head Coach Marilou Braswell works hard to continually improve the cheer program at Georgia.  She cheered at UGA from 1976 to 1979 and was a 1979 All-American.  Having been a Bulldog herself, each year Marilou strives to field a squad rich in the traditions found in the heart of the south land.
