Dr. Douglas Northrop

Douglas Northrop is Associate Professor of Central Asian Studies at the University of Michigan and a Senior Research Fellow at CITS. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, Dr. Northrop taught modern Russian and Soviet history at UGA. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in Modern Russian, Soviet and East European History in 1999. His interests are former Soviet Union and Central Asian politics, security and society, and he has published and taught extensively on these issues. Dr. Northrop speaks fluent Russian and Uzbek.
