Dr. Michael Beck
Michael Beck is a Faculty Associate of CITS where he is involved in the Center’s three programs on export control, WMD security policy and student training.
Beck’s research focuses on illicit weapons trade and international efforts to control such trade. He has directed several projects assessing export control systems and has conducted field research in over 10 countries on export control and border security issues. Beck is a co-author of To Supply or To Deny: Comparing Nonproliferation Export Controls in Five Key Countries (Kluwer Law International, 2003). He has also published several chapters, articles and reports on national and multilateral export controls. In addition to his policy research, Beck conducts training for international officials and visiting fellows on export control policy issues. Beck was instrumental in launching the Center’s International Export Control Academy.
Beck holds a B.A. in Russian/International Studies from Emory University. Beck completed his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Georgia. He speaks fluent Russian and Spanish.
