Ryan Cathie

Ryan Cathie joined the CITS Washington, DC office as a program assistant in August 2006. Prior to CITS, he served with the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, conducting research on proliferation developments in Iran, Pakistan and North Korea. His research interests also include U.S. export controls, illicit trade networks, Asia and the Middle East, particularly Iran. Ryan has worked to facilitate CITS-led legislative outreach events and is increasingly involved in the assessment of national strategic trade control systems. Much of his more recent research has focused on the development of strategic trade control systems in Southeast Asia.


He received his Master of Arts in Security and Intelligence Studies from the Graduate School for Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science in legal communications and political science from Ohio University in 2001. His studies abroad took him to thirteen countries around the world, including stops in Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Japan and India.
