RLST 4000 Special Topics: Student Leadership in the First Year
The course is restricted to first year students on UGA's Athens campus. Peer Leaders must be upperclassmen (second year or higher) on UGA's Athens campus. It is will be offered this Spring 2010 semester.

Course Description
Explore new concepts of leadership and work to develop your own personal philosophy of leadership. Specific attention will be given to typical issues faced by first-year students. The course will provide opportunities for students to explore campus involvement opportunities. Peer leaders will serve as coaches and mentors in order to enhance the experience students began during their first year.
Course Objectives
This course will provide opportunities for you to:
- Identify and develop your personal leadership style
- Learn an overview of contemporary leadership theories
- Develop and articulate your own personal philosophy of leadership
- Increase your competencies in the skills necessary for effective leadership
- Increase your awareness of campus and community involvement opportunities
- Apply your knowledge, skills, and abilities through participation in experiential learning opportunities
