Volunteer UGA

Purpose

"It is incumbent upon us as a university and as individuals to return to this community some of what we have been given, and public service through Volunteer UGA is an excellent way to do that."

-UGA President Michael F. Adams,
2005 State of the University Address

History
As originally known as Communiversity, Volunteer UGA was newly formed in 2004 with a new mission as the campus volunteer center for the University of Georgia. Both a resource and student organization space, Volunteer UGA is the first place on campus to visit when looking for ways to give back to Athens through volunteerism.  After the development of the Center for Leadership and Service, Volunteer UGA became student run umbrella organization which now provides knowledge and resources about both the University of Georgia campus and surrounding community areas.

Purpose
Designed as an umbrella organization with a governing executive board, Volunteer UGA develops opportunities for the various service based student organizations to collaborate and embrace the spirit of volunteering and civic engagement.  Additionally, Volunteer UGA provides knowledgeable students to assist UGA students with the many opportunities of community service in the Athens-Clarke County community and throughout the region.
