| 11/4/2006 - 11/5/2006 - Bulldogs tame Wildcats |
| Davidson, NC - UGA Club Baseball began the Fall 2006 campaign with a three game sweep of the Davidson Wildcats. The cold November weather did not prevent the Dogs from catching fire, outscoring Davidson by a combined score of 37-8. Super-senior Austin Mudd provided the offense in Game One with two mammoth home runs and 5 RBI's. Jason Rottner did not surrender an earned run as he led UGA to a 15-3 victory. Taylor Marsh picked up where Rottner left off in Game Two, using pinpoint accuracy to hold the Wildcats to only one run. Justin Pannell closed out the game as the Dogs batted around in the sixth to put the game out of reach at 8-1. In Game Three the Dogs got a huge lift from the arrival of inspirational leader Matt Peterson. Peterson's tag in a home plate collision created all the momentum pitcher Adam Sheffield would need. Greg Knoll and newcomers Adam and Daniel Weingarten added spectacular plays to the highlight reel as the Dogs cruised to a 14-4 victory. UGA will host a three game series with UNC Charlotte next weekend at Holland Park. |

| 4/30/2006 The End of An Era |
| Athens, GA - The 2006 Dogs (9-3) season has come to a disappointing end with the hopes of a late season rally being extinguished by a UNC Chapel Hill victory of NC State. The Dogs were hoping to sneak into the wild card spot in the South East Atlantic Regional Playoffs but came up empty. This is the first time in four years that the Dogs did not make a post season appearance. It also marks the end of a story book careers for second baseman Jeremy Seid and right fielder Ben Woodall and Head Coach Jeff Jonap. Seid's illustrious final season included a game winning hit against Georgia Southern and his first and only career home run against conference champion Central Florida. For Woodall, his consistency at the plate and gracefulness in right field will be a tough void to fill in '07. Jonap has been with the team since its existence, and will leave behind many fond memories adoring fans. The Dogs hope to bounce back next year and once again be the team to beat in the Dixie Conference. |
| 4/25/2006 Updated Post Season Scenario |
| Athens, GA - The events that must take place for the Dogs to make a post season appearance have been determined by the conference commissioner. The final decision is laid out as follows: If NC State beats UNC Chapel Hill on Wednesday, there will be a one game playoff between the Dogs and Clemson on Sunday at 2pm in Clemson. If UNC Chapel Hill defeats the nationally ranked Wolfpack in their mid week game, the season will be over for the Dogs. Now all Bulldog fans can do is hope for a NC State win and a chance to carry on with the season. |
| 4/24/2006 Waiting Game for Dogs |
| Atlanta, GA - After successfully completing a 3 game sweep of cross town rival Georgia Tech, the Dogs must wait for word from Dixie Conference Commissioner Josh Costner to find out the fate of their season. With hopes of earning the coveted fourth and final wild card spot in the region playoffs, all Georgia can do is sit back and wait for the ruling from Costner. Possible scenarios involve a play off game/series against Clemson or a play in game to start the regional tournament. |

| 4/19/2006 Dogs Wrap Up Season Against Tech |
Atlanta, GA - Georgia has the ability to salvage its season as the team heads to Atlanta for a 3 game series against Georgia Tech. With a series sweep, the Dogs would move to 9-3 on the season in the Dixie Conference. It would also need Georgia Southern to take at least 1 game from UCF in their weekend series to earn the Dogs the title of Dixie Conference Champions. |
| 4/17/06 Seminoles Drop 3 to Dogs in Series Forfeit |
Athens, GA - The Dogs (6-3) have elected to take forfeits for the series scheduled against Florida State. The series was scheduled to take place March 4 and 5 but the Seminoles were unable to field a team. The Dogs will take on Georgia Tech this coming weekend in the final regular season series of the year. |
| 4/9/06 Dogs Stumble Against Knights |
Orlando, FL - The Dogs (3-3) headed south for their first Dixie Conference road trip of the season as they took on the University of Central Florida Knights in a 3 game series. Adam Zuckerman (4-1) earned the win as UGA handily defeated UCF by a margin of 10-3. The game one offense was sparked by a trio of home runs from Jon Rier and Jeremy Seid. The Dogs did not fare well the rest of the series. A late rally by the Dogs was not enough to overcome a 10 run meltdown in the 2nd inning of game two, and the Dogs lost by a score of 19-13. The Bulldogs suffered the same fate in game 3, giving up 5 runs in the second inning and losing by the final score of 7-3. Photos>> More>> Box Scores>> |

| 3/26/06 Dogs Take Two of Three From Eagles |

Senior Jeremy Seid hit the game winning walk off single in the bottom of the 8th inning with two outs. In game three, Jason Rottner (2-0) got the win, while sophomore Greg Knoll carried the team on his back with a 2 HR performance and an 18-8 slaughter rule. The Dogs have an off weekend coming up, and will then head south to Orlando to take on a tough Central Florida squad. More>> |
