Fermentation Plant

The University of Georgia offers a world-class fermentation facility for large-scale growth of microorganisms. Researchers provide the media and inoculum and Fermentation Plant staff conduct the growth and harvesting of the biomass that the researchers use to purify enzymes of interest. Fermentors ranging in capacity from 20 to 500 liters are available in a recently constructed facility near the Life Sciences Building. For more information, contact Ron Makula, the director of the facility at 706/542-1035.
