  Kinesiology researchers to study when heat risks rise for prep football players
 
  With pre-season football practices on the horizon, Mike Ferrara and Bud Cooper from the department of kinesiology will soon begin studying exertional heat illness in Georgia high school football.
  CCSD, UGA and OneAthens partner at Harris Elementary
 
  Harris Elementary School, a new school in Clarke County scheduled to open in August 2009, will benefit from a partnership with UGA and OneAthens.
  Special ed program expands to prepare teachers of autistic secondary students
 
  The Collaborative Adolescent Autism Teacher Training Project, funded by a $792,000 federal grant, is a new program that will help put more qualified teachers into Georgia schools.

  Nicknamed STEM Dawgs for their focus on science, technology, engineering and math, students taking EDUC 2460L are getting hands-on teaching experience in Clarke County's Hilsman Middle School and Jackson County's Benton Elementary School.

  An associate professor in the department of elementary and social studies education has been awarded one of three Richard B. Russell Undergraduate Teaching Awards, which recognize excellence in undergraduate instruction by UGA faculty members in their early academic careers.
